I switched to TransLogistics Transportation a medium sized broker based in San Diego, CA. These guys really know their stuff when it comes to freight transport.
They have comparable rates with full coverage insurance and are a very friendly customer driven company.

1. Written by Will, on 26-12-2008 13:53 I have been shipping all my freight through Blue Grace Logistics. I used to use Unishippers until my "personal service" was gone. My rep. at Blue Grace is Bill Demet. He makes all shipping easy and I get his personal cell number. In addition, their pricing is much better than Unishipper. Give Bill a call at 877-306-1274.....This is not a plug...just some help for you!!
2. Written by Bob Adams, on 21-10-2008 09:17 It seems that the posts here are more focused on advertising for other companies. I have used Unishippers for over 3 years and have had nothing but success and have saved over $100K by using them not to mention the time saved. To the first post: - Being charged more than quoted: why? Reweigh? Reclass? Residential Delivery? These sorts of charges happen with ALL carriers if you do not accurately quote your freight. It is not a Unishippers or a carrier-specific issue, it is INDUSTRY STANDARD. - Liability: The liabiltiy for EACH carrier is posted on Unishippers Freight Manager website. It is YOUR responsibility to check the coverage of your item if it is high dollar and there are plenty of carriers that offer $25/lb liability. You would know this if you had checked the Liability link instead of taking no responsibility and expecting a website to automatically know how much your product is worth. - Unishippers offers supplemental insurance for all shipments starting at $10K, going up to as much coverage as you want. - The repeated plugs for the alternate company either indicate you work for that company and can't earn enough business on your own so you have to bad-mouth your competitor. To the post from AL: - I have never heard Unishippers refer to themselves as a 3PL. If they were a freight broker they would actually call around for rates, but they have their own private tariff with their own established discounts that are PRE-programmed into their website. They are not meant for giant companies needing total logistics management, they are for businesses who need help getting high-volume discounts and easy processing. - I used a direct carrier before Unishippers for my LTL and I will tell you this - it was no better and the rates were great for minimum loads but that was it. Loss and damage claims were still a recurrence and a headache to recoup, the carrier would be cheap on one lane but outrageous on another, and the rep was so annoying with all the b.s. marketing material and hats and calendars that I was paying for in my freight costs. Not to mention the inept people in their customer service department. Direct LTL is the old way, they cater to the shipping guy and not the bottom line. Unishippers is for those of us who want the best service time at the best price. To #2 - JR: Right on the money. Put accurate specifications and service requests into the system, get accurate quote. Anything that is added onto the final bill is not a personal attack, it's just business: You ship more weight than you wrote on the BOL, expect another bill. You classify your pallet of plastic chairs at the same class as lead bars, expect another bill. You ship to a residence in the middle of nowhere and don't include that info in the quote, expect another bill and possibly a delay. #3 - Corey: Same as the first post - shameless plugs for another company. So easy to write something bad about the competition and then include your company name as the hero. The company that is plugged in Corey's blurb uses the SAME website interface as Unishippers, MercuryGate. AND, Corey's company has been in business for 6 years, vs. over 20 years with Unishippers, who has much better rates with their partners just based on volume alone. You can get FTL, hooray, but still all based on availability and you can get much cheaper rates with your own local contacts rather than going through ANY third party. Unishippers specializes in LTL and they don't pretend to be good at anything else, my rep even hooked me up with several LOCAL contacts for flatbed and FTL carriers that have given me the best pricing yet not to mention the local contact. Unishippers, without a doubt, is the best company out there for LTL offering nationwide consolidated discounts but with the customer service touch of a small company. There are no frills or awkward ***-kissing, they do what they say and if they can't do it they will find someone for you who will assist.
3. Written by AL, on 06-10-2008 21:57 I worked for Unishippers for a bit over a year, and let me tell you, DO NOT waste your money with them. Go through a direct freight carrier, any 3PL is useful to your company ONLY if you need an entire outsourced staff to handle your shipping and receiving. Unishippers calls themselves a 3PL, but they are nothing more than a freight broker. Ask them to perform logistics management and they will either look at you with their tongues hanging out of their mouths, or tell you they can't do it. Use a direct LTL carrier for your less-than-truckload shipments. It's by FAR your best bet.
4. Written by JR, on 18-08-2008 19:29 I have used Unishippers for over 8 years. It would take an idiot to miscalculate your package size. TransLogistics messed up my shipments and damaged everything I shipped
5. Written by Corey, on 15-08-2008 07:25 Agree completely- I used to actually get great service, but my issues continued to grow. I am not familiar with Translogistics, but I recently started using Access America Transport. The online system is the same, but I think they are all company owned and seem to have their act together on LTL and even better they move truckload freight (Unishippers was only LTL). I suggest give them a call if you are looking for help. They are a nice medium sized company and really have taken care of me. I believe they have locations all over the US and seem to be large enough to get a little deeper discounts than the Unishippers and Freightquotes of the world.
